(Senior) Audio System Engineer

Job Description

Pre-Sales & Technical Consulting

  • Analyse customer requirements and facilitate clear, effective communication between the client and Devialet’s pre-sales team to ensure mutual alignment and fulfilment of expectations.

  • Collaborate with the pre-sales team to design and define tailored technical solutions that address specific customer requests.

  • Prepare high-quality demonstration setups and proof-of-concept configurations that accurately represent the final proposed solution.

Project Execution & Acoustic Architecture

  • Engage in technical discussions with clients to review and refine the proposed acoustic architecture.

  • Define speaker specifications and manage the qualification process for electro-acoustic components, including precise measurements.

  • Oversee the development of audio systems and associated components (e.g., loudspeakers, amplifiers, grilles).

  • Coordinate with mechanical engineers to monitor and optimise the physical integration of loudspeakers within vehicle environments.

Audio Tuning & Validation

  • Utilise dedicated tuning pipelines and specialised tools to perform both objective and subjective audio tuning.

  • Conduct tuning activities at the Shenzhen tuning office as well as at client sites.

  • Present final tuning results to automotive OEM audio experts and quality assurance teams.

  • Provide ongoing support to the Car Audio team and assist with additional tuning initiatives as needed.

Quality Assurance & Industrialization

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for overall audio quality throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Support clients in applying Devialet standards during the testing and validation phases of system industrialisation.

  • Identify opportunities for solution improvements and actively contribute to their implementation.

  • Help develop and refine team methodologies and tools to enhance productivity and solution quality.

  • Provide consistent project reporting and maintain proactive, supportive relationships with clients by assisting project managers with technical inquiries.

  • Offer mentorship and technical support to fellow team members to foster collective success.

Preferred Experience

Education & Professional Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Audio Engineering, Acoustics, Signal Processing, or a related technical field.

  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in audio signal processing or acoustics.

  • Demonstrated experience specifically within automotive audio applications and tuning.

Technical Expertise

  • Strong foundational knowledge of system engineering, general audio development, and acoustic system design.

  • Hands-on proficiency in acoustic measurements, validation testing, and manufacturing processes using industry-standard tools such as Audio Precision, Klippel, and REW.

  • Advanced skills in signal processing and analysis utilising MATLAB and MaxMSP.

  • Solid understanding of electrodynamic transducers, electronics, and amplifiers.

  • Exceptional critical listening skills with proven experience in the subjective tuning of audio products.

Professional Competencies & Attributes

  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills are mandatory for effective international collaboration.

  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently, including regular visits to client sites near Shenzhen, and occasional international travel.

  • Highly adaptable and responsive, with the ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Demonstrated autonomy and self-direction in executing complex technical tasks.

  • A genuine passion for audio technology and a strong commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
